axibuilder

axibuilder is a browser tool for designing the electron-optical columns in our scanning electron microscopes. A column is the stack of magnetic lenses, apertures, and pole pieces that focuses the beam onto the sample.

You build each part as a cross-section in the (r, z) plane, arrange the parts on one axis, and export the column to FEMM for simulation.

We use it internally. This page is for the team.

Features

• Parts library. Candidate geometries for each element: condensers, three objective types (axial-gap, radial-gap, and conical immersion), boosters, biased stages, and apertures. Every part is parametric.
• Editing in the (r, z) plane with fillets, dimensions, and snapping, and a mirrored preview of the revolved solid.
• Full-column assembly on one axis, from the electron gun down to the sample.
• Export to Python, CadQuery (STEP), JSON, and SVG. The geometry matches our FEMM builder exactly.
